Slow Motion on the iPhone 5s

I have always enjoyed watching nearly everything in slow motion. Who doesn't?! However, this was not a feature I was all that excited for when Apple announced their iPhone 5s. It was cool and all, but all I cared about was whether or not it could take a great still image. I am not a video guy by any means. But, when I finally upgraded my aging iPhone 4S to the 5s recently, of course I wanted to play with all the new features! This meant diving into the 120 FPS, slow motion video mode, just to see what it was all about.

It definitely takes some practice and you cannot slow motion everything! It has its place, like anything. Such as in the PNW while it is raining. =) Here is another clip I shot of a couple bumble bees looking for food nearby.

Pretty neat! I am very impressed with the capabilities of the iPhone 5s' camera. It is not the greatest, but for a mobile camera that slips into any pocket, with this many features, it passes the test with flying colors!

On a side note, video is a completely different animal than photography, at least for me. There is a learning curve and, being a bit colorblind, correcting colors and making sure each scene/frame matches the others (which I did for the second clip in iMovie for OSX) is not an easy task! To get the most out of video, like anything, you have to invest in it. Take your time with it and enjoy it!

I am sure you will all be seeing more video from me in the future! This feature is too good just to have it collect dust.
