Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
UPDATE April 11, 2014: Changed the photos of this entry and added plenty more in this gallery!
Every year around this time, Skagit Valley holds its famous Tulip Festival. As its name suggests, thousands of tulips (and other flowers) bloom, decorating the landscape in color for a few fleeting weeks. For what it is worth, the Festival is listed at #4 on Buzzfeed's "29 Surreal Places in America You Need To Visit Before You Die." Put simply, it is beautiful! Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. They are so large and the color combinations seem endless. Usually, I visit a field or two and snap some photos, but I had never been to the "main" tourist attractions. I decided to break the trend and discover something new (to me), so I decided to visit one of these attractions this year, RoozenGaarde.
The RoozenGaarde name is well known in the area; there are quite a few fields that showcase their flowers. The location I visited, however, is their main garden. Top-notch landscaping, its iconic windmill looming over the entrance, and more flowers and colors than your mind can handle! It is most definitely the main attraction, too. Even for a Thursday morning, I cannot tell you how many cars and people were there. It was packed!
I was not able to capture the entire experience; there is just so much. But, I was able to focus on many of the best flowers in the state! Here are a few samples from my trip.
